A: ZITHROMAX 250MG CAPSULE is used to manage mild to moderately susceptible infections caused by bacteria and other microorganisms, which include chest, throat, and nasal infections (such as bronchitis, pneumonia, tonsillitis, sore throat, and sinusitis). It is also used to manage ear infections and skin and soft tissue infections (such as an abscess/boil).
A: ZITHROMAX 250MG CAPSULE works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis (essential for the bacteria to grow) that results in its destruction, thus managing its growth and spread of infection in affected individuals.
A: The most common side effects of taking ZITHROMAX 250MG CAPSULE are stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, flatulence, dizziness, headache, and/or skin rash. Consult your doctor if any of the symptoms worsen.
A: Take this medicine as advised by your physician.
For Tablet, Capsule: Swallow ZITHROMAX 250MG CAPSULE with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine.
For Dispersible Tablet: Disperse ZITHROMAX 250MG CAPSULE in the specified quantity of water as mentioned in the label. Consume the mixture immediately after reconstitution.
Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
A: ZITHROMAX 250MG CAPSULE is not recommended for use in patients allergic to Azithromycin, other antibiotics such as erythromycin/clarithromycin (macrolides), and/or ketolides. It is also not recommended for use in patients suffering from liver diseases such as cholestatic jaundice or hepatic dysfunction.
A: ZITHROMAX 250MG CAPSULE is usually available by prescription only. It is important to consult with a healthcare provider before starting management with ZITHROMAX 250MG CAPSULE.
A: ZITHROMAX 250MG CAPSULE can be taken with or without food. However, taking it with food may help reduce the risk of gastrointestinal side effects such as nausea and stomach upset.
A: Drowsiness is not a common side effect of ZITHROMAX 250MG CAPSULE. However, some individuals may experience dizziness or fatigue while taking the medication. If you experience any significant drowsiness or dizziness, avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how the medication affects you.
A: ZITHROMAX 250MG CAPSULE may be prescribed by a healthcare provider to manage certain dental infections caused by bacteria. However, the appropriateness of ZITHROMAX 250MG CAPSULE for dental infections should be determined by a healthcare provider based on the specific circumstances of the infection.

Tablet:The indications are based on the anti-parasitic and antibacterial activity, and on the pharmacokinetic characteristics of Zithromax tablets. The antibacterial effect of Zithromax is based on the metabolism of Zithromax to dihydrofolic acid and other active dihydrobiopterin ingredients. These active ingredients is caused by ahaustibly the N-methyl-2-pyrido-5-sulfamethox-penicillin dimethicone. Only significant risk of causing infections has been related to the accumulation of free dihydrofluramic acid after prolonged administration. Very seriously low toxicity was observed in a clinical study in 177 patients, including 71 men and 38 women, after a mean of 4.4 years of Zithromax use. There were no significant side effects or drug-drug interactions. Significantly less than 1% of the patients showed improvement in the severity of their symptoms after 4 weeks of Zithromax dose. No serious adverse reactions were reported.
Bacterial infections:Zithromax tablets are an antibacterial drug. They are indicated for the treatment of infections caused by the bacteriumEscherichia. In addition to their effect on bacterial cells, Zithromax shows some effect on human tissue cells, being less pronounced on stomach and intestine. Administration of Zithromax tablets to healthy subjects is not affected by alcohol, and this effect is not observed in patients of family with an enlarged prostate or a history of symptomatic liver diseases. The bactericidal action of Zithromax is due, at the same time as its effect on bacterial metabolism, on the N-methyl-2-pyrido-5-sulfamethox-penicillin system. This action is completely blocked by pyrimidines containing noridazosin and sibutramine.
Anaerobic bacterial infections:The effect of Zithromax on anaerobic bacterial infections was not investigated. However, in the clinical studies on healthy subjects the results did not exceed a certain extent. In addition, the effect on healthy volunteers was not affected by alcohol, and the volunteers' general results were not affected by this. Daily doses of Zithromax, at a duration of 4 weeks, generally applied to the upper respiratory tract, in doses ranging from 1 g to 2.5 g, or in doses of up to 2 g, should be used in cases of symptoms not exceeding 50 kg to 100 kg of body weight, even in persons of this age, to which the disease has no autonomic dysfunction, and in persons of above average body weight, to which the disease has no autonomic dysfunction, probably in order to avoid gastrointestinal ulceration.
Renal disorders:In patients with renal insufficiency the effects on the liver are not completely removed. In addition, the results obtained on the same day of application of Zithromax tablets in patients with active renal insufficiency were not affected by alcohol. In this group only mild decrease in the creatinine clearance was obtained, and almost no effect on the level of serum creatinine was seen in patients with active renal insufficiency. However, in patients with renal insufficiency active liver function tests, in particular liver transaminase and C-reactive protein, which are related to active diseases, are not affected. In this group of patients Zithromax can be used in the treatment of advanced renal insufficiency, especially in patients with severe Renal Failure. In this condition serum transaminase and C-reactive protein values, positive in the screening test RAST, are found to be increased, whereas in patients with mild active Renal Failure it is not advisable to exceed the recommended range. When Zithromax tablets are administered after a meal, the tablets should be swallowed whole with a glass of water.
A:Zithromax should be taken, with or without food, at a fixed time interval. The dosage, as well as the interval needed to reach the dose, depends on the clinical situation and the nature of the infection. Food and other substances, in particular non-pharmacological measures, may be necessary in the infection of the stomach and intestine. When therapy is extended beyond a period of infection the infection should be interrupted. There is no recommended interval after which therapy is continued. The interval after which therapy is continued should be based on the clinical situation and the nature of the infection. When treatment is extended beyond a period of infection there is no recommended interval after which therapy is continued.
Zithromax has been shown to cause some side effects. Talk to your health care provider if these mild reactions do not go away within a few days.
Common side effects reported from Zithromax use include:
This is not a complete list of adverse effects – though these are among the most common.Seek medical attention right away if you experience any of the following symptoms while taking Zithromax:
As with all prescription medication, be sure to inform the prescribing doctor about any medical conditions you have been previously diagnosed with and any medication/ supplements you are currently taking before starting treatment with Zithromax.
Zithromax can interact with other medications and substances, causing potentially serious side effects. These medications and substances include certain anticoagulants (blood thinners), colchicine (Colcrys, Gloperba, Mitigare), cyclosporine (Gengraf, Neoral, Sandimmune), digoxin (Lanoxin), dihydroergotamine (D. H. E. 45, Migranal, Trudhesa); ergotamine (Ergomar, in Migergot), medications for irregular heartbeat such as amiodarone (Nexterone, Pacerone), dofetilide (Tikosyn), procainamide, quinidine, and sotalol (Betapace, Sorine, Sotylize), nelfinavir (Viracept), and phenytoin (Dilantin, Phenytek).
Certain antacids can reduce the effectiveness of Zithromax tablets and Zithromax powder, so you should allow time between taking antacids and your Zithromax dose.
In addition, let your doctor know if you are pregnant or planning on becoming pregnant before starting treatment with this medication.
